1. No matter how meticulously you think you've packed your case, you will never be able to find a pair of socks in a semi-darkened room while two of your roommates are still asleep.
2. In the first five minutes of conversation with someone you meet at a hostel or on a tour, you'll know where they're from and how long they've been travelling and where they've been, but you won't know their name and it's pretty unlikely that you'll find out.
