Deja Vu...

Hello blog readers,

I think it's Thursday. Days have really ceased to exist since I started travelling. I know that in three days I'm flying to Hobart. I should really set my alarm now to remind me.

Melbourne is a pretty cool place. I'm staying in St Kilda which is a 15 minute tram ride outside the city so close enough, and it's an ace place, lots of cafes, next to the beach... the hostel is pretty damn good too. It has tons of free stuff on. On Tuesday it was Open Mic night. If you're my mate on Facebook, you already know that I sang/played at it. No videos as yet but there will be apparently. Eek. I sang/played 'Why Does It Always Rain On Me?' by Travis, 'Chasing Cars' by Snow Patrol and 'Good Riddance' by Green Day. There wasn't any immediate booing so I think it went alright :)

Yesterday I took a wander around St Kilda trying to get my bearings (I found pancakes...yay! Generally my wanderings are classed as a success if I find good food). Found a piano store and spent forty-five minutes failing to play things from memory. Back at the hostel, I chilled next to the fireplace (fake) and read for a bit before teaching a ten year old from Ireland how to play some chords on the guitar. Awesome.

Took a walk down to the pier with some other hostel-dwellers to see the little penguins that come to mate on the rocks there. Saw a couple but because it was pretty much dark and flash photography was a no-no, I have two photographs where the penguins are identifiable as penguins :P Lazy night last night after a bar supper where I met a nice couple who were visiting to see a show at the Palais Theatre (nicer than the Palace Theatre).

Today, I narrowly avoided getting soaked to the skin and successfully figured out the tram system. Had a little wander around the Flinders Street area of Melbourne, grabbed some lunch then spent a few hours at the ACMI. I'm still not sure what ACMI stands for... something to do with moving images. Anyway, pretty much covers the history of film from the beginning of the 1900's. It's awesome. For anyone going to Melbourne, go there. And make sure you play about in the Matrix thingy.

(Can't get the vid to embed... fail)

Free tacos night tonight then I might sort out some photos. I've taken heaps and only uploaded stuff from Christchurch.

I'm sure this was an exciting read for you :P
