Firstly! Massively huge CONGRATULATIONS to Sarah and Martin on the birth of Finlay :D Can't wait to see you all in October!!
First impressions of Tasmania? Hilly. It was quite dark when I landed so didn't really get to see much and it's kinda cold, but it is winter so it's completely expected. The hostel is nice, it's basically an old hotel. High ceilings and stuff. There's a TV room downstairs where I will more than likely park myself after finding dinner.
Melbourne was fine but I started to feel a bit claustrophobic there at the end. I think it was more to do with the hostel than anything else. Even though all the beds in the room weren't full, it felt really crowded all the time (which a room with 5 sets of bunk beds is bound to be). Sometimes you couldn't move for other people's stuff and in the lounge area, it was impossible to hear yourself think in the evenings between the TV, the music and the hysterical laughter from the Japanese girls in the corner.
Anyway, enough whinging!! Flight was good (ears weren't behaving and there was a small child I felt like murdering, but once I had my iPod on, it was all good), hostel is fine. I'm in a 6 bed dorm with one other person. Awesomeness.
