Well that's my time house-sitting nearly over. Back to the flat tomorrow.
It's been pretty cool living here, with the awesome views and a masses of space, but I'm looking forward to getting back to my flat. I'm not going to miss taking two buses, a ferry and a train to work or climbing the Steps of Doom (seriously, Doom!). I can't wait to go back to rolling out of my flat, down to the train and doing nothing for half an hour instead :P And because I've had the pets to look after, I haven't been able to do much after work apart from going home to feed them and then by the time I get home, I can't be bothered going back over to the city.
I had something akin to an epiphany this week... I've been here for almost four months and although I have a flat and a job, my social life is kinda craptastic. Though that's going to change with the arrival of Miss Innes in two weeks time, I need to find my own friends. It's also Sydney festival time so there's a TON of stuff going on around the city that I'll go check out (and take photos of, since I've been lacking on that front as well... though there is an adorable pic of me and the puppy on Facebook :D). Also checking out an ex-pat group next Friday and joined a book club thing as well.
I think part of the reason that I haven't been trying hard enough to meet people is because I still think of this as being a year trip and that's it. Like in Germany. There was an end date so I basically worked towards that and spent too much time online to people at home. And of course I love keeping up with everyone at home, I just need to take a break from internet stuff. (This will be a lot easier when I go back to the flat and the only net access I have is on my stone-age phone or at the net cafe) So after tomorrow, apart from updating my facebook status, I'm going to be offline until next weekend probably. I'm going to make more of an effort to integrate myself in this amazing city.
Lack of sleep makes me ramble and far too introspective, it would appear.
Watching Role Models for the first time, absolutely love Jane Lynch (Sue Sylvester in Glee) and Paul Rudd. Plus the really geeky guy from Superbad is in it. I need to finish tidying up the place and pack up my stuff for going home tomorrow! The family land in the morning so I need to get up and make the place look presentable, which it does anyway. I'm not exactly one to trash a house :P
Hope everyone's having a good weekend!!
Hoping for more than 5 hours sleep tonight, that would be beyond awesome :)
xxx
