There's a Drumming Noise Inside My Head

Oh Florence and the Machine. Stop being awesome!

It's raining today in Sydney. I've been back here for nearly a week and I'd truly forgotten how much I love this city. I've hung out with friends, mainly Kevin, a lot over the past five days and I'm having a blast. Activities have ranged from eating massive plates of nachos, taking too many photos with the iphone's hipstamatic app, an impromptu trip to Manly and getting Ben and Jerry's (thank you, Matt!), seeing Shrek 4, discovering that a restaurant that ends in '-licious' serves a pretty good burger, chilling out on Oxford Street after refusing to watch a friend get a piercing with a variety of chocolate-y beverages and eating noodles after getting the crap scared out of me (again) by I Am Legend.

I've put travelling on hiatus for the minute while I look for a temp job to keep me here for a few more weeks. Travelling somewhere new every few days turned out to be pretty exhausting and Australia is an expensive place to be so my priority right now is a job. I've applied for a few so far but no joy. I wanted to spend more time today looking at sites and whatever, but the rain has put me into this tired mood so I'll pick up again tomorrow and make a real go of it :)

In a moment of insanity, I decided to check into a hostel that cost $17 a night (in a city where anything decent costs $27+) and it was an interesting experience. I got to share a room with a man who snored (for a change), I came fourth in a trivia quiz (out of five teams - but I was only 2 points behind the winners - thank you Google!), I had a lengthy random chat with a guy I used to work with because the bar below the hostel is his local and I caught him there on payday and I slept for one terrifying night in a room that was 80% mould (I have photographic evidence and nightmares to prove it).

So I'm back in the posh hostel. The nice one. The one where I've spent most of my hostel life over the past year. It's quiet (for the most part), tidy and the walls don't attack me in my sleep.

Slightly terrified that it's now July. JULY!

Plans for this week? Just taking it easy and enjoying life :)

xx
